Rui Manuel Sobral Centeno
He has a degree in History and a PhD in Pre-History and Archaeology from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, where he is an associate professor with aggregation in the areas of Archaeology and Museology, and has oriented more than fifty doctoral and master’s theses.
He has participated and coordinated several works and research projects in the areas of Castreño Archaeology, Romanization and circulation of money in Ancient Hispania, having published numerous works, individually and with national and foreign authors, and participated and organized several scientific events. He is currently a researcher at the Transdisciplinary Research Center “Culture, Space and Memory” (CITCEM) at the University of Porto. He is President of the Board of the Portuguese Numismatic Society.
Among other positions and functions, he was Chairman of the Board of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, Chairman of the Department of Heritage Sciences and Techniques of the FLUP, Director of the PhD Course in Museology, Director of the Center for Communication Sciences of the University of Porto (C2COM). He was also Director of CULTURPORTO and Director of the public company LUSA – Agência de Notícias de Portugal, S.A.
