Raul Berenguel é licenciado em História pela Universidade de Aberta (2008), tendo obtido o grau de Doutor em História, com distinção e louvor. Frequentou o curso de Física da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (3 anos) e o curso de Engenharia Eletrotécnica da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (2 anos). É membro do Conselho Científico do CTEC – Centro de Estudos de Transdisciplinares da Consciência, centro de investigação da Universidade Fernando Pessoa (Porto). Pertence ao grupo internacional de investigação independente:”M.A.R.I.A.N. – Multicultural Apparitions Research International Academic Network”, rede académica internacional. É investigador integrado do CLEPUL – Centro de Literaturas e Culturas Lusófonas e Europeias da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa /Pólo do Porto. É também investigador colaborador do CITCEM – Centro de Investigação Transdisciplinar Cultura , Espaço e Memória da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. É docente investigador da GemsValue, Laboratório Gemológico (Lisboa), consultor da “Wise Jewelry Applications” (software gemológico), E.U.A. e colaborador da International Gem Society (E.U.A.). Entre 1994-1996 foi um dos primeiros vencedores da bolsa de Investigação da Fundação de Bial (Laboratórios de Bial),. Foi membro do grupo organizador da implementação pedagógica-científica do Projeto Minerva, o primeiro plano nacional visando a implementação das Tecnologias de Informação a nível do ensino secundário em Portugal, sendo também professor do Grupo de Técnicas Especiais da Escola Secundária N.º 1 de Matosinhos (atual Escola Secundária João Gonçalves Zarco), de 1986 a 1992, por convite do Conselho Diretivo Escolar. Participou na organização de simpósios internacionais tendo publicado diversos livros como autor, co-autor e coordenador, publicações e cartazes em procedimentos científicos, dezenas de artigos diversificados, nacionais e internacionais bem como manuais profissionais. Foi convidado como orador para diversas conferências científicas, de âmbito nacional e internacional. Recebeu o “Certificado de Excelência pelo Desempenho e Contribuição” da SpeC – Sociedade Portuguesa para Exploração Científica (1977), recebeu o Certificado de Mérito “For outstanding academic performance” pela International Gem Society (2012), e foi convidado a assinar o Livro de Honra da Associação Portuguesa de Gemologia – Instituto Gemológico de Portugal (2013).

Raul Berenguel has a degree in History from the Universidade Aberta (2008), having obtained a PhD in History, with distinction and honors. He attended the Physics course at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (3 years) and the Electrotechnical Engineering course at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2 years). He is a member of the Scientific Council of CTEC – Center for Transdisciplinary Studies of Consciousness, a research center at Fernando Pessoa University (Porto). He belongs to the international independent research group “M.A.R.I.A.N. – Multicultural Apparitions Research International Academic Network”. He is a researcher at CLEPUL – Centre for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon / Oporto Pole. He is also a collaborating researcher at CITCEM – Center for Transdisciplinary Research on Culture, Space and Memory of the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto. He is a researcher at GemsValue, Laboratório Gemológico (Lisbon), consultant for “Wise Jewelry Applications” (gemological software), USA and collaborator for the International Gem Society (USA). Between 1994-1996 he was one of the first winners of the Bial Foundation Research Grant (Laboratórios de Bial). He was a member of the organizing group for the pedagogical-scientific implementation of the Minerva Project, the first national plan aiming at the implementation of Information Technologies at the secondary education level in Portugal, and was also a teacher of the Special Techniques Group of the Escola Secundária N.º 1 de Matosinhos (now Escola Secundária João Gonçalves Zarco), from 1986 to 1992, by invitation of the School Board. He participated in the organization of international symposia having published several books as author, co-author and coordinator, publications and posters in scientific procedures, dozens of diversified articles, national and international as well as professional manuals. He was invited as a speaker to several scientific conferences, nationally and internationally. He was awarded the “Certificate of Excellence for Performance and Contribution” by SpeC – Portuguese Society for Scientific Exploration (1977), received the Certificate of Merit “For outstanding academic performance” by the International Gem Society (2012), and was invited to sign the Honor Book of the Portuguese Association of Gemology – Instituto Gemológico de Portugal (2013).
