NOTA BIOGRÁFICA:
– Licenciado em História, pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto; e pos-
graduado com o Curso de Bibliotecário-Arquivista, pela Universidade de Coimbra
(1974); recebeu Prémio da Fundação Eng.° António de Almeida, como aluno melhor
classificado na FLUP, no ano letivo de 1973/74
– Em 1974 prestou provas com tese de licenciatura, subordinada ao tema: A Arte Românica de Coimbra. Novos dados, novas hipóteses
– Entre 1971 e 1981 trabalhou, como Técnico-superior, na Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto; desde então, até 2010, dirigiu o Arquivo Histórico e o Departamento Municipal de Arquivos da CMP; no desempenho destas funções, logrou obter para este serviço camarário a certificação de Gestão da Qualidade e, em 2008, o Prémio Nacional de Boas Práticas na Administração Local (Categoria A)
– Coordenou o projeto de estudo e valorização da Casa do Infante; foi o responsável
científico da candidatura do Porto a Património Cultural da Humanidade; e comissariou múltiplas exposições, por exemplo, para a visita de Sua Majestade a Rainha Isabel II de Inglaterra, para a VIII Cimeira Ibero-Americana, para as comemorações centenárias Nascimento do Infante D. Henrique, da Inauguração da Ponte Luís I, do Cerco do Porto, das Invasões Francesas, etc.
-Ainda como estudante, participou nas escavações luso-francesas de Conimbriga e em escavações em Bracara Augusta e na estação arqueológica da Falperra
-Codirigiu escavações arqueológicas na Pousada de Sª Marinha da Costa (Guimarães), no eremitério rupestre de Sabariz (Viana do Castelo) e na igreja de Lagares (Penafiel)
-Dirigiu escavações no morro da Sé do Porto, as quais permitiram, pela primeira vez, avaliar cientificamente a antiguidade do povoamento do centro histórico da cidade; orientou também as pesquisas arqueológicas no Castelo da Foz, dando a conhecer a igreja medieval de S. João da Foz do Douro; e coordenou o projecto de investigação da Casa do Infante
-Entre 2016 e 2019 dirigiu um projeto científico, aprovado pelo Ministério da Cultura, sobre a antiga Terra de Lafões
-Entre 1988 e 2005 foi professor convidado do Curso Superior de Ciências Documentais, da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto
-Faz parte de dois centros de investigação: o CITCEM (Centro de Investigação
Transdisciplinar “Cultura, Espaço e Memória”, da Universidade do Porto); e o IEM
(Instituto de Estudos Medievais, da Universidade Nova de Lisboa). É autor de várias
dezenas de estudos sobre Temas Portuenses; Biblioteconomia e Arquivística; Arte e Arqueologia Medievais

– He has a degree in History from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto; and a post-graduate degree in History from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto.

– Between 1971 and 1981 he worked, as a senior technician, at the Municipal Public Library of Porto; since then, until 2010, he managed the Historical Archive and the Municipal Department of Archives of CMP; in these functions, he managed to obtain for this municipal service the Quality Management certification and, in 2008, the National Award for Good Practices in Local Administration (Category A)
– Coordinated the study and valorization project of Casa do Infante; was responsible for
He was the scientific advisor for Porto’s application for World Cultural Heritage; and curated multiple exhibitions, for example, for the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, for the VIII Ibero-American Summit, for the centennial celebrations of the Birth of Prince Henry the Navigator, the Inauguration of the Luís I Bridge, the Siege of Porto, the French Invasions, etc.
-Already a student, he participated in the Luso-French excavations of Conimbriga and in excavations at Bracara Augusta and at the archaeological site of Falperra
-He conducted archaeological excavations at the Pousada de Sª Marinha da Costa (Guimarães), at the cave hermitage of Sabariz (Viana do Castelo) and at the church of Lagares (Penafiel)
-Directed excavations on the hill of the Cathedral of Oporto, which allowed, for the first time, to scientifically evaluate the antiquity of the settlement of the historic center of the city; also directed the archaeological research in the Castle of Foz, making known the medieval church of S. João da Foz do Douro; and coordinated the research project of Casa do Infante
-Between 2016 and 2019 he directed a scientific project, approved by the Ministry of Culture, about the ancient Terra de Lafões
-Between 1988 and 2005 he was a guest lecturer in Documentary Science at the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto
-It is part of two research centers: CITCEM (Research Center
Transdisciplinary “Culture, Space and Memory” of the University of Porto); and the IEM
